BoVac Disc XL352 – The World's Largest Vacuum Disc Filter

The BoVac Disc XL352 from BOKELA is the world’s largest vacuum disc filter. With a filtration area of 352 m², it boasts an impressive capacity of up to 1,000 tons of solids per hour and exceptionally low residual moisture levels. Yet it requires only around 10% more floor space than our previous largest model, the L176 – meaning that replacing it could double your throughput (with only minor adjustments to your building and the transfer point to the conveyor belt). The unique BoVac Disc XL352 thus sets new standards in the filtration of particulate solids.

FAQ: Frequently asked questions about the BoVac Disc XL352

What makes the BoVac Disc XL352 the world's largest disc filter?

With a filtration area of 352 m² per filter unit, a disc diameter of 6.4 m, 6 filter discs and 30 filter segments per disc, the BoVac Disc XL352 sets new global standards in vacuum filtration. No other vacuum disc filter achieves this combination of filter area, throughput and compact design. Developed and manufactured by BOKELA (Karlsruhe, Germany).

How much greater is the throughput of the BoVac Disc XL352 compared with standard vacuum disc filters?

BOKELA's filters have a throughput that is up to 100% higher than that of conventional disc filters. BOKELA's unique hydraulic design ensures an effective pressure difference across the filter cloth that is up to 100% higher than competing products. The result is extremely high specific throughput rates, intensive cake dewatering and low residual moisture, all while taking up minimal space.

For which materials and industries is the BoVac Disc XL352 suitable?

The BoVac Disc XL352 is designed for filtering large volumes of suspensions in various sectors, including aluminium oxide (for seed and product filtration in refineries), coal (for flotation concentrates), potash and fertilisers (for wet processing), concentrates from ore and mineral processing (such as iron ore, copper, zinc, lithium and nickel), and tailings (for environmentally friendly dewatering and storage). Its fully automatic operation also makes it suitable for varying process conditions.

Is maintenance time-consuming?

No! The BoVac Disc XL352 is designed for fully automatic continuous operation – operations engineers worldwide describe it as "switch on and forget". Changing the filter cloth is quick and easy. Fibre-reinforced polymer segments are available as an option; weighing just about 13 kg, they are particularly easy to handle.

How much space does the BoVac Disc XL352 take up in relation to its capacity?

It uses significantly less floor space than comparable systems. Thanks to its vertical disc arrangement and extremely large specific filter area, the BoVac Disc XL352 requires only a fraction of the floor space that an equivalent throughput filter press would occupy. This is particularly relevant for retrofitting existing plants, where space is often limited.

How well can the BoVac Disc XL352 be integrated into existing processes?

Very good! The fully automatic operation and substantial performance reserves enable excellent adaptation to process fluctuations. The BoVac Disc XL352 complies with standards and can be integrated worldwide. BOKELA provides comprehensive engineering data, simulations and technical support right from the planning stage – ensuring that project deadlines can be reliably met.

How secure is the investment throughout its entire life cycle?

Exceptionally high! The BoVac Disc XL352 is designed for years of continuous operation in extreme industrial conditions. All components, including the filter segments, shaft, filter pipes, control head, drive and filter trough, have been systematically engineered for maximum durability. BOKELA provides certifications in accordance with international standards, as well as audit reports and extended warranty programmes. Reference installations have been operating for many years without any unplanned downtime.

How can I tell if the BoVac Disc XL352 is suitable for my plant?
